In an effort to um, not yell at each other in the middle of the night, Jordan and I came up with a compromise. Jonah does not get fed unless he wakes up after three o'clock, so essentially, Jordan handles the pre 3 am wake-ups, and I get the ones after. No, that doesn't divide the night up very evenly, but guess who has started waking up at 3:00 exactly most nights? And on the nights that Jonah decides to wake up earlier (like, say oh, two o'clock) Jordan will get up with him, he'll go back to sleep quickly and wake up promptly at 3:00.
He's on to us, I tell ya.

How Many Duplos Tall Are You?
If I remember correctly -
Jonah: 34
Skyler: 51
Me: 81
Jordan: 94

An alternate title for this post could be "how you know when you have too many duplos". Because yes, we have enough square ones to stack them over six feet tall. Throw in the non-square ones, the people, the trains, etc., etc, and that's a lot of duplos. Any time Jordan says he thinks that Skyler has too many toys, I offer to pack up some of the duplos. He stops saying such things.
Oh, and I know there was a very good reason that Skyler only had on one sock, but this was over a week ago, so now I have no idea.

Eight Months Old
| No new teeth in the past month, though he sure has been acting like a new one is coming. He might like sweet potatoes, or maybe that was just a fluke. |
| I give him cheerios and he throws them all on the floor. He seems to only like nursing and eating toys. |

Jonah Meets The Snow
This is from last week. There was just enough snow to cover the ground and it was melting fast. I had missed my other opportunity to take Jonah out in the snow and I wasn't going to miss it again (because at the rate the snow is falling this winter, this was as good as it gets). As you can see, he wasn't too thrilled by it all.

And here's Skyler. He wouldn't go out in the snow, which is not too much of a surprise, although two weeks ago when it snowed he walked out in it and threw some snowballs. I really should have gotten some photographic evidence of that.

Um, Thank You?
I am at the computer nursing Jonah and Skyler just brought me a graham cracker sandwich. Complete with butter in between each layer. That kid truly has learned that he can pretty much do whatever he pleases while I'm feeding Jonah because there isn't a whole lot I can do about it.

It's Tough Being the Little Brother
I pulled out the pack 'n' play so Jonah could have some space to play on his own. As in, Skyler isn't allowed in the pack 'n' play with Jonah. But never fear, Skyler still finds ways to torture his little brother even though he's been threatened with a "really long timeout" should he climb in. Like throwing in toys for example. He put the Weebles Treehouse in there and it landed on Jonah's head. Oops. Now Skyler will get a "really long timeout" should he decide to do that again.
And doesn't Jonah play the role of bullied little brother well? Really the incident was not as traumatic for him as the look on his face would suggest.

Who wore it best?
One of the fun things about having two boys born at the same time of the year (and thus wearing much of the same clothes) is finding pictures of them wearing the same thing. A month ago, Jonah was playing with his sippy cup and I remembered there was a picture of Skyler wearing the same sweater drinking a sippy cup!

Fun at the Museum
We spent a morning at Explora with our good friends Gina, Gabe, and Lily before their big move to Idaho. After this visit to the museum (our first) I'm not sure why I'll miss them more, because they're really cool or because she could get me into Explora for free! Here are some pictures of the boys having fun. Skyler's favorite thing by far was dropping ping pong balls into the tubes, so I set up our own when we got home.

Skyler's Goals
At school Skyler has been learning about goals. He's even made a few of his own - to write his name and learn to build train tracks (with his Duplo train set, he's already quite good at this, but I guess there is always room for improvement). He practices writing his name, but so far just scribbles something and claims its his name. Sometimes I can deciper an 's' in there. He's adorable when it comes to the train tracks though. He'll build a track and then say to me "I reached my goal!"

They Would've Won...
Cleaning Skyler's Room
Skyler and I cleaned his room (because he wanted to vacuum it). While I was sorting puzzle pieces, Skyler put most of the stuff in his closet. Then he decided that he needed to vacuum the closet, so out it all came and on to the bed, burying poor Jonah.

Skyler and the Phone
Chances are if you call our house, Skyler will answer the phone. He's just too darn fast and people always seem to call when I'm in the bathroom or nursing Jonah (I try to keep the cordless by me, but this particular time they were both dead and in need of charging). He'll also probably think you are Grandma. I hope you don't mind. And if I do manage to answer it before him, you'll hear much screaming and yelling from him. If I talk to long, you'll probably start to hear him say something to the effect of "say bye and put the phone down" repeatedly.
I hope this doesn't discourage anyone from calling. :)

No More Nursery
I teach a primary class at church, the one that sits right behind the sunbeam (3-4 year olds) class. For a few months now I've been watching them and thinking about how soon Skyler would be sitting in those chairs (well, one can only hope he'll sit). Three weeks ago the nursery kids who'll be Sunbeams in January visited primary for sharing time and singing time. When I saw Skyler walk in I didn't know whether to smile really big or cry. Smile because it's so fun that he's big enough for this next step, but cry because, well, he's big enough for this next step. Wasn't it just last month or something that he started nursery? And why did the weeks leading up to his first nursery day just creep by while these past months have just flown by? The Sunbeams have always seemed so big to me, there's no way my little boy is big enough to be one. But he is. Or so the calendar says.

Merry Christmas!

We hope you all had a Merry Christmas, we sure did!'Twas the night before Christmas, and all through the house, two boys in matching jammies were stirring, and I hope there was no mouse.
Skyler got a baseball tee, it took him awhile to get excited about it, but he had lots of fun with it that afternoon in the backyard with Grandpa. Jonah was very thrilled with his thing that makes noise and lights up! Skyler has been quite confused for the past few weeks. He heard me tell my mom that he wanted Hungry, Hungry, Hippos for Christmas. Skyler's mind went to the only hippo related thing he knows, the hippo we have that "eats" the peek-a-blocks. So for the past week, when someone would ask Skyler what he wanted for Christmas he'd say "A hungry hippo, but I already have one". Poor, poor, impressionable little three year old! He wants whatever I tell him he wants! He got the game and loves it. We were so happy to have Grandma and Grandpa and Jared and Annie join us for Christmas!
