11 Months
Oliver is one month shy of one year old - how did that happen?
He started crawling two days before he hit the 11 month mark, but doesn't do it much, he prefers to army crawl and roll. He likes to play with cars and play peek-a-boo. He likes to be outside and go for walks, but he isn't so sure about the grass. He likes taking baths in the tub with Jonah and Skyler. His most favorite thing seems to be sucking on his sleeve. He'll stick his hand up his sleeve and them stuff it into his mouth. This always results in a very wet shirt and often results in him nearly taking his shirt off.

Why We Got The Chicken
We didn't choose this chicken, she pretty much chose us!
When we went to pick up our chickens, I was walking around the chicken run with the boys and this one just kept following us around. We weren't planning on getting one that was this old already, but we almost felt like we had no choice! Then Jordan reached in the run and the chicken let him pick her up.
The other two we got are little ones, so Jonah naturally (though incorrectly) assumes that the big one is the mom and the little ones are her babies. He started calling her Mama Chicken and it seems to have stuck.
The little ones are still pretty skittish, but Mama Chicken is very mellow and seems to be enjoying her new home. The boys love watching the chickens and think its great fun when we let them out of their coop to wander the yard.

It's Spring!
Other than the four black widows that I've spotted and the two flying stinging creatures that I've seen, here are some more signs of Spring
A baby on a blanket
A baby off of a blanket who isn't quite sure if he likes the grass
Planting flowers
Parking spaces for the construction vehicles
Helping in the garden
Chickens! We are now the proud owners of a 20 week old Barred Rock and two 6-week old Black Australorps. Bring on the eggs!

Lunch from a Lunchbox
This is my Superman lunchbox back from when I was in high school and overly obsessed with anything that had a Superman S on it.
Jonah has decided it's his now and last week we packed it up to take to Jordan's work so they could eat lunch together
This week, we took it to the Botanic Garden and Aquarium. Skyler had a field trip there and we were hoping to meet up with him for lunch, but we got there too late. Jonah still declared it a fun picnic.
Jonah watched the trains
while Oliver explored his surroundings.
And, oh yeah, back to the topic for today - the lunchbox. Here's what happens when Jonah is in charge of packing it.

He Speaks!
Most nights before Oliver goes to bed (or during the day when he goes down for a nap), I'll have him practice his waving skills and tell him to say night-night to your brothers (or daddy). On Sunday night, he responded by waving bye-bye on his own (which he's been doing for a few weeks now) and actually saying "nigh nigh". I tend to be picky about what constitutes my kids' first words (as in, in my mind it doesn't count if he's just babbling words that are actual words and there's no meaning), but I'm totally counting this as his first word. Even though he has yet to do a repeat performance. Perhaps he knows too well what it means and doesn't ever want to say it for fear that it will encourage me to put him to bed!
